How To Identify Sajda In Quran?
Sajda in the Quran is the soujoud that a Muslim prostrates when reciting a sajdah verse, whether in prayer or outside of it, and it is named from the fact that it is a specific sajdah for reciting the Qur’an. The legitimacy of the sajda in the Quran is based on what was recounted by Ibn Umar – may Allah be pleased with them – who said: (The Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him). He used to recite a surah to us that included a sajdah, so he would prostrate and we would prostrate till one of us couldn’t find his forehead. There are several methods of sajda in the Quran, as recorded by jurists, including:
1- According to the Hanafis, if the reciter is in prayer, he must have the intention, and the reader may kneel immediately after reciting the sajdah verses in the Quran, which is sufficient for the sajdah.
Or he finishes the prostration verse and prostrates immediately after it, then rises and finishes the recitation, then kneels in the most full bending prayer, and if there are multiple sajdahs in one prayer, one prostration is sufficient.
And that falls under the category of alleviating shame, and if the sajdah is outside the prayer, then he should say the takbeer.
2- According to the Hanbalis, the sajda in the Quran, whether in prayer or outside, is how one prostrates and says two takbeers.
The first is if he soujoud, and the second is if he is raised. If he is outside the prayer, the soujod is as the Hanafis said, but the salutation is required.
3- According to the Shafi’is, Sajda in the Quran begins with the purpose, then with the takbeer, and it is permitted to raise the hands for that, then prostration, and finally the takbeer to raise it, followed by the salutation if it is outside of the prayer.
4- According to the Malikis, the method is to pronounce the takbeer for lowering the sajda in the Quran by elevating the hands if outside the prayer, followed by the takbeer when rising from it.
With the intention, whether in prayer or outside of it, and there is no surrender to the sajda in the Quran, as with the Hanafis.

How Do I Perform Sajdah In Reciting The Quran?
The person should say Allahu Akbar and enter Sajjdah. When reciting Allahu Akbar, do not raise your hands. During sajdah, he should recite the following Arabic phrase:
“Subhana rabbiyal a’la” .
“Glory be to my Lord, the Most High”
Muslims can recite “Subhana rabbiyal a’la” at least three times during a sajdah, as this is also the Prophet Mohammad’s (pbuh) Sunnah. Although there are no restrictions, a Muslim can repeat it three, five, or seven times in one Sajdah.
Where is the first sajda in the Quran?
The Holy Quran has fifteen Sajdahs, with the first being in Surat Al-Aaraf’s last verse: {And for Him, they prostrate}. The final Sajdah in the Quran is found in Surat Al-Alaq, which states, “Prostrate and come closer.”
How many Surah is in the Quran
The Quran is divided into 114 chapters (surahs) and 6,236 verses (ayahs). The chapters are ordered largely in descending order of length.
What Hadith say regarding the Sajdah?
Abu Huraira reported that the Prophet Muhammad SAW said:
When a person while reciting the Quran reaches the point of Sajdah in the surah and he does a sajdah then the Shaitaan cries and separates himself from that person and wails” O Disaster! When he was commanded to do Sajdah, he performed sajdah, thus for him, there are the gardens of Jannah. When I was commanded to do sajdah I did not do sajdah, and for me, there is the Fire.” [Sahih Muslim]
What Allah says in Quran regarding the Sajdah?
Allah repeatedly asked Muslims in the Quran to perform Sajdah solely in front of one entity, Allah, who is all-knowing and omnipotent.
Allah states in Surah Nahl, Verse 49:
“And to Allah prostrates whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth of creatures, and the angels [as well], and they are not arrogant” [16:49].
In verse 98 of Surah Al-Hijr, Allah says:
“So exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate (to Him)” [15:98].
Thus, based on the preceding verses and hadith, we may conclude that Sajdah is extremely important to Muslims and that it is the most tranquil activity that a Muslim can participate in.
Is Prostration Obligatory?
This implies that the prostration of recitation is optional, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not chastise Zayd for failing to prostrate. The hadith also states that the listener should not prostrate unless the reader does. (Majmu’ Fatawa Ibn Baz, 11/415).
